The management expects this positive development to continue in 2015. In 2014, ZhongDe experienced an upturn regarding the progress of its current BOT and EPC projects leading to a significant increase of its financial results for the full-year 2014. Total revenues nearly tripled from 12.3 million Euros in 2013 to 35.0 million Euros in 2014 mainly due to progress in the BOT project in Lanzhou and the EPC project in Dingzhou. In 2014, thereof 33.7 million Euros (2013: 12.2 million Euros) have been accounted for under the ze-ro-profit-method from service concession arrangements and the PoC-method from EPC-projects. While the BOT segment accounted for 23.7 million Euros (2013: 8.6 million Euros), the EPC segment accounted for 10.1 million Euros of ZhongDe's group revenues (2013: 3.7 million Euros). The remaining 1.2 million Euros were contributed by the sale of one medium-sized incinerator. Gross profit turned from a loss of -0.9 million Euros in 2013 to a profit of 0.5 million Euros in 2014. The gross profit margin grew by 8 percentage points to 1.0 per cent (2013: -7.0 per cent). In the financial years 2013 and 2014 the operating profit was significantly influenced by special effects resulting from the project valuation and in addition by the positive one-off ef-fect out of the sale of the subsidiary in Beijing (2013: 10.3 million Euros). EBITDA adjusted for the extraordinary effects went up from -6.0 million Euros to -2.2 million Euros. Including the extraordinary effects, EBIT improved to 3.0 million Euros (2013: -7.4 million Euros), cor-responding to an EBIT margin of 9.0 per cent (2013: -60.0 per cent). Even though 2014 was still a challenging year for ZhongDe, the company managed to reduce its net loss to -1.0 mil-lion Euros (2013: -8.3 million Euros). Despite the net loss of -1.0 million Euros the equity of ZhongDe Waste increased to 112.9 million Euros in 2014 (2013: 103.0 million Euros) mainly due to changes in the foreign currency reserve of 10.9 million Euros. Remaining high order backlog and good cash position The total order backlog of 212.5 million Euros (31 December 2013: 226.1 million Euros) proves ZhongDe's ability to generate revenue and profit in the future. The decrease of order backlog reflects the company's ability to complete its projects as the year-on-year decline of the order backlog is triggered by the stage of completion of each project. As at 31 December 2014, the cash position of the company amounted to 87.2 million Euros (As at 31 December 2013: 110.1 million Euros). Besides the higher cash outflow due to the project progress, the decrease in cash position was caused by the repayment of bank loans. Further strong growth expected for 2015 Looking ahead to 2015 and 2016 ZhongDe expects to continue to benefit from the favorable political and economic environment for eco-friendly waste disposal, as well as from the grow-ing demand for energy-from-waste-plants, both in China and throughout Asia. Thus, the Management Board is confident that more contracts can be signed in 2015 and in the follow-ing years. With regard to the completion of ZhongDe's current BOT and EPC projects, the BOT projects in Zhoukou and Xianning are scheduled for completion in 2015 and the BOT project Kunming in 2016. Also the EPC projects in Dingzhou and Zhucheng are expected to be completed in 2015. After the completion of its current BOT and EPC projects, ZhongDe plans to further strengthen its focus on EPC projects since revenues and profits can be recognized earlier from EPC projects than from BOT projects. The management of ZhongDe expects 2015 to remain a transition period, during which ZhongDe is focusing on the finalization of the existing projects and on the progress of the construction in Lanzhou and Wuhai. Based on the assumption that the project progress will develop as planned, the management expects to be able to continue the rapid growth in rev-enues and gross profit in 2015.
