Mutares portfolio company Balcke-Dürr receives funding from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Germany

• EUR 1.5 million project explores digitized idea and work management
• Focus is the involvement of employees in the introduction of new technologies
• Supported by the Universities of Trier, Bremen and Duisburg-Essen

Dusseldorf, 7 December 2018 - The Balcke-Dürr Group, a subsidiary of Mutares AG (ISIN: DE000A2NB650), is one of three companies participating in the DIAMANT research project ("Digitalized Ideas and Work Management in Production, Logistics and Retail"). The aim of the project is to involve employees in the introduction of new technologies in the value chain.

In the project supported by the Universities of Trier, Bremen and Duisburg-Essen, different strategies are developed in cooperation with experts from psychology, computer science and logistics to successfully counter digitization and artificial intelligence. Together with employees, works councils and executives, the project accompanies the handling of the changed demands on the employees in order to develop new competence profiles. In particular, abstraction and problem-solving skills are required to cope with complexity as well as the handling of automated applications and artificial intelligence.

"Digitalization and artificial intelligence mean not only new intelligent solutions for previously unresolved inefficiencies in a wide variety of processes, but also the need for a strategy for dealing with these very solutions. Other participants in the project are the REWE retail chain and the family business BOGE. The project is headed by junior professor Dr. Caroline Ruiner from the University of Trier and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Germany with EUR 1.5 million.
