Pfeiffer Vacuum generated sales of EUR 224.5 million during the first half of 2015 during which an EBIT of EUR 30.5 million and a margin of 13.6 percent was achieved. This resulted in net income of EUR 21.2 million leading to earnings per share of EUR 2.15 for the first six months. The order intake during the reported period amounted to EUR 245.0 million - an increase of 25.1 percent compared to the previous year's figure. The figures at a glance:

"The positive trend at the beginning of the year carried over to the second quarter and even intensified somewhat ", comments Manfred Bender, CEO of Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology AG. "The good development of our order intake stems from the sustainably high demand from the analytics and semiconductor market segments. In this context, it remains important to emphasize the positive fact that the orders have come from a multitude of diverse customers and have not relied on large one-off projects. We confirm our outlook for FY 2015 with sales expected within a range of EUR 430 - 450 million and a noticeable increase in operating profit and of the EBIT margin compared to the prior year." Bender carries out further: "In the first half of 2015 we recorded an operating cash flow of EUR 25.4 million. After the dividend payment of EUR 26.1 million our liquid assets amounted to EUR 98.2 million at the end of the period and clearly surpassed the financial liabilities of EUR 31.0 million. We continue to maintain a net cash position on the balance sheet." The development of sales by market segment, product and region behaved as follows: The distribution of sales by market segment showed a 30.8 percent increase in semiconductor to EUR 75.3 million (H1/2014: EUR 57.6 million). Sales in the industry segment declined by 3.2 percent to EUR 52.7 million (H1/2014: EUR 54.4 million). The analytics segment increased 25.6 percent to EUR 44.7 million (H1/2014: EUR 35.6 million). The sales contribution from the research and development diminished by 8.5 percent to EUR 24.8 million (H1/2014: EUR 27.1 million) and sales in the coating market segment rose 15.6 percent to EUR 27.2 million in the reported period (H1/2014: EUR 23.5 million). In Europe, sales increased 1.8 percent to EUR 91.4 million in the first half of 2015 (H1/2014: EUR 89.8 million). Sales in Asia grew 19.8 percent to EUR 76.9 million in the reported period (H1/2014: EUR 64.2 million). In the Americas an increase of 27.4 percent was realized, hence taking the sales figure to EUR 55.8 million (H1/2014: EUR 43.8 million). Concerning product sales, the service business grew by 19.6 percent to EUR 48.8 million (H1/2014: EUR 40.8 million). Sales with instruments and components which amounted to EUR 48.2 million were 1.2 percent lower in the reported period (H1/2014: EUR 48.8 million). Backing pump sales experienced an increase of 18.8 percent to EUR 53.6 million (H1/2014: EUR 45.1 million). The increase in turbopump sales amounted to 23.3 percent and took the figure to EUR 70.6 million (H1/2014: EUR 57.3 million). With sales of EUR 3.4 million (H1/2014: EUR 6.2 million) the systems business continues to play a limited role. New orders in the first six months of 2015 totaled EUR 245.0 million and thus were 25.1 percent higher versus the previous corresponding figure (H1/2014: EUR 195.9 million). The book-to-bill ratio, the ratio of order intake to sales, was 1.09 for the period (H1/2014: 0.99). The company's order backlog of EUR 79.8 million on June 30, 2015, was 35.7 percent higher than the corresponding figure one year earlier (June 30, 2014: EUR 58.8 million). Pfeiffer Vacuum's gross profit margin in the first half of 2015 increased by 2.2 percentage points to 37.7 percent (H1/2014: 35.5 percent). The period's operating profit of EUR 30.5 million was 47.9 percent above the prior year's corresponding figure (H1/2014: EUR 20.6 million). This resulted in an EBIT margin of 13.6 percent (H1/2014: 10.4 percent). Net income amounted to EUR 21.2 million and thus was 52.1 percent higher than a year earlier (H1/2014: EUR 13.9 million). This translated to earnings per share of EUR 2.15 for the reported first six months of 2015 (H1/2014: EUR 1.41).
