The 136 residential units with a rentable area of almost 14 000 m2 were purchased by the GIEAG in the year 2009. The sale included two residential buildings for redevelopment, which are to be redeveloped for residential use by the new investor. Part of the portfolio Leipheim II will remain in the inventory of the GIEAG. The goal here is - in cooperation with the town of Leipheim - to continue to develop the existing areas and properties. Schneider + Cie. was active as a consultant for GIEAG and was entrusted with the sale itself. GIEAG is very pleased with the sales result, as communicated by Christoph Klotz, director of GIEAG: "The current market is, due to the high demand for residential buildings and the low interest rate, ideal for an exit. In addition to this, we were able to increase rental income through increasing rent and new tenancies over the past five years as well as upgrading the properties through partial redevelopment, significantly increasing the value of the real estate. This sale generates liquid funds for investing in new projects in the area of project development and for the refinancing of expiring mezzanine financings in current project developments."
