Supervisory Board of Medgate Deutschland GmbH Appoints Dr. Christian Braun as Second Managing Director

On 9th March 2020 the Supervisory Board of telemedicine provider Medgate Deutschland GmbH appointed Dr. Christian Braun as Chief Medical Officer alongside Verena Weissenseel who is Chair of Management. Dr. Braun is a specialist physician for internal medicine and FMH general internal medicine (Foederatio Medicorum Helveticorum - Swiss Medical Association) and also holds an additional title for clinical emergency and acute medicine.

"After establishing Medgate Deutschland we now have the future management team with Ms. Weissenseel and Dr. Braun who is a designated expert in the field of telemedicine and I am very pleased that he could be won as the CMO for Medgate Deutschland," stated Stephan Holzinger, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Medgate Deutschland GmbH and CEO of RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG.

Dr. Christian Braun who has been working for Medgate in Switzerland as a Senior Physician and Medical Supervisor in Operative Management since 2018 stated: "I am looking forward to the new challenge and to being able to assist Medgate Deutschand with my expertise of many years in telemedicine as well as my extensive knowledge in using modern communication and information technologies. I am totally convinced that telemedicine will become a significant and firm component in German medical care."

Improving Healthcare in Germany

Medgate Deutschland's aim is to make an important contribution to improving healthcare in Germany by providing telemedicine and Digital Health services which are directed towards an increasingly digital-savvy society and their demands for efficient and fast healthcare of a high quality irrespective of time and place. The use of communication and information technologies is particularly interesting for people who are not registered with a GP, who live in a rural area or are constrained due to poor health and who do not have much time.

Medgate Deutschland offers telemedical advice and treatment irrespective of time or place on 365 days a year. If a person is ill, they just use their smartphone to receive medical advice and treatment either on the phone or by viewing a video. Patients have two methods to reach Medgate: they can use the Medgate app or they can contact Medgate by phone.

What has been reality in Switzerland for many years already will now also soon be possible in Germany. Medgate has already cared for more than 8.8 million patients with its telemedical services since it was established in 1999. It is one of the leading providers of telemedicine in Europe.
