Amberg / Munich, April 8, 2019 - The Grammer Group will be presenting new products and innovative ideas for construction machine seats at bauma 2019, the world's leading trade show for the construction machinery industry. Once again, Grammer, one of the leading developers and producers of seats for commercial vehicles, will be present at bauma in 2019 with its own stand, exhibiting enhanced seating solutions and ideas for future additional seat functions targeted at the construction machinery sector.

New design and further development of successful solutions
At bauma 2019, Grammer will be displaying the popular driver seat Actimo Evolution in a new design and with new functions. One key feature is the seat climate control system. With performance boosted by 40 percent compared to the previous system, it is now even more effective. The 2-stage seat heating provides pleasant warmth, while the new climate control fitted to the seat and back upholstery ensures an ideal seat climate. The new side contour adjustment in the back upholstery has also improved support and seating comfort for the driver noticeably.

Designs for seating functions of the future
Grammer is confirming its role as a leading developer of commercial vehicle seats with a series of innovative ideas for additional functions. The "Smart Cover", a ceramic 3-D hardcover, opens up new possibilities with regard to protection, durability and the optical design of seat cushions with imitation leather and fabric covers. Seat cushions can wear out quickly especially in vehicles with frequent driver changes. The "Smart Cover" not only significantly improves the abrasion resistance of seat cushions, but also offers numerous attractive, customer-specific design options.

The integrated "Haptic Warning System" links the seat with the assistance systems fitted to the construction machine, thus serving as an output medium for these systems. At construction sites, it is often easy for drivers to overlook optical signals or overhear acoustic signals. In the interests of greater safety, this system reliably alerts the driver to these warnings by means of haptic signals that are emitted over a large area of the seat surface.

An idea for a noise canceling system for the construction machinery sector is also being presented. Loudspeakers are integrated in the headrest of the seat for this purpose. The concept provides for continuous, low frequencies in the ambient sound to be measured with microphones fitted at head height. An algorithm calculates the corresponding counter-noise within milliseconds and emits it via the loudspeakers in the headrest. This creates a quieter working environment for the driver, which can have a positive effect on concentration and performance.

Joint solutions strengthening the industry

OEMs, suppliers, service providers, testers, researchers and politicians use this platform to share information.
