On 31 August 2018, DeutschlandCard GmbH and Vectron Systems AG have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI). The aim of the intended cooperation is to jointly develop a digital customer card solution for the hospitality industry. In addition to retail trade, the DeutschlandCard is to be accepted in the catering trade in the future.

Two strong suppliers come together in DeutschlandCard and Vectron. DeutschlandCard GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA, operates one of the largest customer loyalty systems in Germany and has numerous renowned partners like Edeka, Netto Marken-Discount and Esso. Vectron Systems is a full-size system solution provider of POS systems and Cloud Services with market leadership in the hospitality and bakery sectors. In future, the DeutschlandCard is to be used for collecting and redeeming points at Vectron POS systems. This gives small and medium-sized enterprises access to the multi-partner bonus program. It enables them to participate in an established and successful loyalty system, which already has more than 20 million participants and more than 10,000 participating POS, thus offering them added value right from the start. At the same time, DeutschlandCard programme participants will be able to use their cards in the catering trade, making the card even more attractive.

Additional services and offerings are also to be added as part of the cooperation. For example, the cooperation provides for a separate gastronomy area on the DeutschlandCard website and in the app. Further planning includes the integration of additional functions like online table reservation and online orders. DeutschlandCard and Vectron want to offer an alternative to existing hospitality platforms.
