The project relates to the online rollout of the electronic health card (eGK). The key objective of the so-called 'Stage 1' is to develop and test the operation of a central infrastructure. This involves the integration of service providers such as doctors, psychotherapists, dentists and hospitals from two test regions. Health insurers will also be involved. This means networking all participating parties by way of a telematics infrastructure, in order to ensure secure exchanges of data. The telematics infrastructure is a closed network of trusted partners. Medical confidentiality and the right to informational self-determination will be maintained at all times. The chief focus of the electronic health card and the telematics infrastructure lies on security, cost effectiveness and quality. Background arvato Systems was recently awarded the contract to act as general contractor in developing and conducting this project. In this context arvato Systems will be supported by partners such as AuthentiDate. The latter, which forms part of exceet Group, is responsible for developing and testing the core PKI components used to create and manage the mutual trust sphere of the telematics infrastructure.
