Based on Aurubis' definition of operating earnings, Aurubis AG generated earnings before taxes (EBT) of EUR -8 million (previous year: EUR +74 million) in the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2012/13. Much lower metal prices at the balance sheet date led to losses in the fair value assessment of derivatives and devaluations of precious metal inventories. Furthermore, weak copper scrap and acid markets and a lower metal yield strained the result in the third quarter.
