KGaA, agreeing to the purchase of a 100 percent stake in GasSecure AS, Oslo, Norway. Until now, the shares to be purchased have been held by venture capital companies and company employees. GasSecure, which was founded in 2008, had a staff of ten employees as of the end of 2014. The parties have agreed to a purchase price of between EUR 55 - 60 million. GasSecure has a truly wireless optical gas sensor for hydrocarbons and holds the corresponding intellectual property rights. The company also has a market-ready product for the oil and gas industry based on this technology. The advantage of a truly wireless solution is that it significantly reduces the time and effort necessary for engineering installation. Existing wireless solutions for measuring hydrocarbons have been limited to wireless data transfer and have still required a conventional power supply connected with wires due to the relatively high energy consumption of optical sensors. GasSecure's system can be used for more than one year without exchanging batteries. The purchase expands Dräger's portfolio to include a key technology with a promising future and strengthens the company's strategic position in the oil and gas and chemical industries.
