(2012: EUR 509.7 mill.). The preliminary Group operating result accounts for EUR 2.2 mill. (2012: EUR 4.3 mill.). Sales increase despite decrease in occupancy In the FY 2013 the Group occupancy rate was 84.6 % (2012: 86.3%), a decrease of 2.0 % compared to the previous year. Despite lower occupancy rate sales could be raised. This was achieved by improvement in efficiency in the acute segment and reallocation of medical services in the post-acute segment. Additionally in the post-acute segment a decline in sales in the field of psychosomatic caused by cost providers must be compensated in FY 2013. Group operating result is positive despite weak 1. quarter 2013 The Group operating result in FY 2013 was EUR 2.2 mill.; EUR 2.1 mill. below previous year's figure. In the following quarters the low result of the first quarter 2013 (Q1 2013: EUR -5.9 mill.; Q1 2012: EUR -0,8 mill.) could be catched up partly by adjustments of medical services and reallocation of capacities as well as cost savings. Personal costs increased, material costs on previous year's level Still increase in sales was not sufficient enough to compensate the expenses for capacity extensions and capacity adjustments and the increase in staff costs. The increase in number of staff and the increase in remuneration in line with the industry led to higher personal costs of EUR 7.6 mill. compared with the previous year. Material costs kept nearly constant due to an efficient procurement in FY 2013. Investments on a high level also in 2013 In FY 2013 about EUR 18.7 mill. were invested in fixed assets (brutto) (2012: EUR 27.3 mill.) and was financed nearly completely out of the cashflow. A good start into 2014 In the month of January 2014 the occupancy in the post-acute segment as well as the number of cases in the acute segment were above the previous years' figures, so that a better start in the new FY is assumed.
