Preliminary calculations show that RATIONAL generated sales of 210.8 million euros in the first half of 2013. This equates to growth of 3 percent compared to the previous year (204.4 million euros). After exchange rate adjustments, the increase in sales comes to 5 percent. At 106.8 million euros, the sales volume in the second quarter was slightly below the same quarter last year (107.5 million euros). After exchange rate adjustments, however, sales were up 2 percent in this period. Growth in the second quarter of 2013 was impacted by one-time effects from 2012. This particularly affected Asia and the Americas, where large project orders were placed last year. At 50.5 million euros, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for the first half-year will probably be 6 percent less than in 2012 (53.7 million euros). This equates to an EBIT margin of 24 percent (previous year 26 percent). Adjusted for exchange rate influences, EBIT rose by 4 percent. Sales expected to grow by 5 percent in 2013 In view of the way business has developed in the first six months and the overall relatively stable economic environment, the Executive Board expects sales to grow by about 5 percent in 2013 and earnings to stay at last year's level.
